Kanji + Kanji → Kanji

Posted Leave a commentPosted in kanji

Many Kanji characters are made combining two or three Kanji characters. For example, The kanji “休” means “rest”, “taking a break” and this kanji is made combining “人” which means human and “木” which means tree. If you can imagine people rest under the tree, you can understand why “休” means rest.

Kanji + Kanji → Kanji
Kanji + Kanji → Kanji

We have similar Kanji characters like “大” and “犬”. The shape of Kanji is similar but the meaning is different, the one means big and the one means dog. If you feel difficuties for learning many Kanji characters, it might be easy way to remember similar kanji characters altogether.

As I meantioned, in many cases, kanji characters are made of combining of multiple Kanji characters. If you understand the pattern of the combination, you can understand the combined kanji meaning. For example, the Kanji “指” which means finger. the left part of the kanji means hand, so you would know this kanji has the meaning about hand. Yes, that’s right. the meaning is finger!
